"Voice" in tech can serve as a fingerprint, identifying a person's biological identity. You may have had this experience: opening an "untitled audio source" file on your phone, hearing an unknown voice, yet instantly reconnecting with the person. We hope this connection is not about "names," but about the stories we've shared. In these stories, even without a signature, we can recognize each other in every word and line.

Uncommons and t2 are jointly calling for submissions with two prompts:

  • Prompt 1: Write an anonymous letter to a community member you've wanted to connect with but haven't yet. Participate
  • Prompt 2 (main category): Write an anonymous letter to anyone - someone who's recently become important in your life, your past self, or even a non-human being. Participate

Note: Prompt 1 is a special prompt for Uncommons members as the community celebrates its 2nd anniversary. During the Community Call held on September 13th, we selected three anonymous community members to create internal community letters through live games. The open call for submissions will mainly focus on Prompt 2.

Tips: Letters can be of any length. Besides text, you may also include a photo you think best suits the letter as an envelope.

Prizes:
Community Voting: $50*6
Special Prize: $100*1

Organizers:

t2, an app for writers to find, build, and grow their community
Uncommons, a community focused on cryptopunk & techno humanities

How to Participate:

  1. Write an anonymous letter based on Prompt 1 or 2 and post it on t/Uncommons. The letter can be in English or Chinese.
    1. Reply to Prompt 1
    2. Reply to Prompt 2
  2. Post under the identity of your favorite animal (like an otter, dolphin, rabbit) or any other anonymous alias you prefer on t2.
  3. At the end of your post, include: "This is an anonymous letter created for the t2 x Uncommons writing challenge."
  4. If you'd like, share it on social media. We'd be happy to help spread the word. By default, letters may be shared on public channels after posting. If you prefer not, please state so separately.
