Long ago, there was a kind nurse who worked at a hospital. She was beautiful, caring, and loved by her patients. However, she became the target of jealousy and cruelty. One version of the story says that the hospital director was in love with her, but when she rejected him, he turned violent. Another version tells of a group of doctors who betrayed her. Whatever the truth, the young nurse was attacked, leaving her legs broken and unable to walk. She crawled desperately for help but was left to die alone.
After her death, the legend of "Suster Ngesot" (the Crawling Nurse) began. At night, hospital workers and patients hear eerie scraping sounds in the corridors. When they check, they find nothing—until they see a pale, ghostly figure in a nurse’s uniform slowly crawling toward them. Her face is often hidden by long black hair, and she vanishes before anyone can react.
Many hospitals in Indonesia claim to have encountered Suster Ngesot. Some believe she seeks revenge, while others think she is looking for help she never received. Whatever the case, her chilling presence continues to haunt those who walk the hospital halls at night.
