Lawang Sewu, an old colonial building in Semarang, is famous for its dark history. During the war, it was used as a prison where many people suffered and died. One of the most famous legends tells of a young woman who was imprisoned there. Some say she was a Dutch woman, while others believe she was an Indonesian nurse. She was tortured and met a tragic end inside the building.
Now, her spirit lingers, appearing as a woman in a long white dress with flowing hair. People claim to hear soft weeping and whispers in the empty halls. Some visitors have even seen her reflection in the windows, only to turn around and find nothing there. At night, security guards report sudden cold spots, flickering lights, and eerie shadows moving on their own. Despite these ghostly encounters, Lawang Sewu remains a popular tourist attraction, with visitors hoping to catch a glimpse of the weeping spirit.
