Frogish was deep in his lab in Froglandia, surrounded by maps, ancient scrolls, and strange artifacts from his countless expeditions. He had spent years searching for knowledge, but nothing intrigued him more than the legend of the Lost City of the Abyss.
Most dismissed it as a myth—a civilization so advanced it had disappeared beneath the ocean, swallowed by time. Some said it held secrets that could change the world. Others warned that it had been buried for a reason.
One night, while sorting through an old archive, Frogish stumbled upon something extraordinary: a map. It was faded, the ink nearly erased by time, but the markings were clear enough to decipher. The Lost City was real. And its location lay far beyond the safe waters of Froglandia.
Excitement turned to obsession. He had to know what was hidden beneath the waves.
Knowing the dangers that lurked in the abyss, he prepared carefully—a reinforced diving suit, his energy spear, and a sonar device he had spent months perfecting.
At the shores of Froglandia, beneath a sky heavy with clouds, he called out into the sea.
From the depths, Ram, the blue whale emerged, his massive form breaking through the waves.
"You’re certain about this?" Ram rumbled, his deep voice carrying a note of concern.
"There’s no turning back," Frogish replied.
With a mighty push, Ram carried him into the deep, away from the familiar waters of Froglandia and toward the unknown.
Into the Abyss
As they ventured farther, the ocean darkened, the sunlight fading into nothing. Warm, vibrant reefs gave way to lifeless trenches. The water grew cold. The silence was absolute.
Frogish activated his sonar. At first, the screen showed nothing but empty void. Then, shapes began to form. Structures. Towers. A city buried beneath the abyss.
"This is where I leave you," Ram said. "There are things down there that should remain undisturbed."
Without hesitation, Frogish dove into the abyss.
The ruins stretched before him, vast and untouched by time. Colossal stone structures lined the seabed, covered in strange glowing coral. Statues of amphibians stood frozen in place, their faces twisted in silent screams.
At the heart of the city, a grand temple loomed. Its doors, sealed for centuries, bore inscriptions that pulsed with an eerie blue glow.
Inside, the chamber was immense, lined with murals depicting an ancient civilization. And at its center stood the Heart of the Abyss—a towering crystal, its surface pulsing with unnatural energy.
Frogish stepped forward, reaching toward the crystal.
Then, the city moved.
The City Awakens
A deep, resonant sound echoed through the ruins. The statues outside cracked.
And then, they stirred.
From the shadows, figures began to rise—ancient amphibians, their bodies long decayed, yet their eyes burned with the same eerie glow as the crystal. They had not perished. They had been waiting.
One of them turned its hollow gaze toward Frogish. And lunged.
He fired his energy spear, the beam cutting through the creature, but it did not stop. More of them emerged, moving unnaturally fast.
The crystal pulsed violently, the temple walls shaking. The city was waking up.
Frogish had no choice but to flee. He swam upward, dodging falling debris as the ruins trembled. The creatures let out an unearthly wail, their forms flickering like ghosts in the dark.
Above him, a sliver of light. The surface.
With every ounce of strength, he pushed forward, breaking through the waves just as the last remnants of the Lost City sank back into the abyss.
Ram was there, waiting. Without a word, he pulled Frogish onto his back.
Behind them, the ruins vanished forever.
Some Secrets Should Remain Buried
Back in Froglandia, Frogish locked away the data from his sonar. He had found what others had searched for. He had uncovered the truth.
But some knowledge should never be unearthed.
With a heavy heart, he destroyed the sonar records.
The Lost City would remain just that—lost.
