Interesting and useful information on sleep - something which we seem to think we don't need much of in our furiously paced modern world. See those folk who say they only need 4-5 hours, they're doing themselves no favours re future good health.

I don't feel so bad now needing my 8 hours to function even on a basic level!Equally interesting were the sections dealing with how age affects our sleeping patterns. No matter how hard parents try to impose early bedtimes on teenagers they can't beat the age old circadian rhythms. There are also some useful nuggets of information on how to aid regulation of sleep in the elderly. Indeed, this volume is jampacked with ideas on how to improve sleep quality.

It's quite readable but perhaps not quite as accessible as the Mary Roach style of popular science. Still a highly researched, extremely thought provoking tome. Just don't stay up too long after bedtime reading it!
