In the deep, dark places of the ocean, far below where sunlight touched, was the Abyss: a vast and mysterious chasm stocked with strange and powerful forces. Not even the bravest merfolk dared to venture there because it was said the Abyss was the actual repository of the secrets of the sea, guarded by ancient and terrific creatures.
There was one among the merfolk, however, who had no fear of the Abyss. That was Sirina: a mermaid with a voice as haunting as the deepest sea and eyes that shone like bright stars in the night. Sirina had always felt a pull toward the unknown, a yearning to uncover those secrets hidden in the depths of the ocean. She is intrigued by the tales of the Abyss and its strange, legendary denizens, and she hopes that one day she'll uncover its mysteries.
One night, as she swam near the edge of the Abyss, Sirina hears a melody unlike anything she knew. It was a song, deep and resonant, echoing from the darkness below. The song was both beautiful and terrifying, filled with sorrow and longing, as if the ocean itself were crying out. Sirina is entranced; she can't resist the pull of the song. She knew she had to follow it.

Without hesitation, Sirina dived into the Abyss, descending further and further into the darkness. Water grew colder and pressure almost unbearable; yet she continued, lured by the haunting melody. As she swam deeper, the song became louder, filling her mind and heart with its mysterious power.
After what felt like a lifetime, Sirina finally reached the bottom of the Abyss. There, she found herself in a great, shadowy cavern lit by soft, eerie bioluminescence. In its center, she saw the source of the song: a great, ancient creature, half-fish, half-human, with scales that shimmered like the nighttime sky and eyes that glow with an otherworldly light.
He was Nereus, the Guardian of the Abyss, an old one who had stared over the secrets of the ocean's depths for millennia. His voice, imbued with the wisdom of ages, was the siren's song that drew Sirina to the Abyss.

"Nereus," she whispered, her heart and soul afraid at the closeness of this ancient being. "Why have you summoned me here?"
She saw, in his gaze, as if it looked inside of her very soul. "I have sung the Song of the Abyss for countless eons," he said, his voice resonating like the currents of the ocean. "It is a song of the ocean's pain, of the damage and destruction caused by those who do not understand the depths. But you, Sirina, have a heart that beats in harmony with the sea. I have called you because the ocean needs a voice—someone who can sing the song of the Abyss and carry its message to the world above."
She felt a shiver run down her body as she realized the weight of Nereus's words. The ocean was dying, and the darkest secrets it kept wanted to cry out for help. She finally understood that her journey had not been just for her, but that there was something in her meant to be the voice of the ocean, to link the Abyss to the surface.

Nodding, Sirina accepted the challenge. "I will sing your song, Nereus. I will see to it that the ocean's voice is heard."
Nereus smiled at her, his face filled with ancient sorrow and hope. "So now you are the voice for the Ocean, Sirina. But be aware that the song of the Abyss is not just a melody- but call to action. Those who will listen to it will be moved to do something, but it is up to you to guide them and make them understand and respect the depth of the ocean."
With those words, Nereus transferred part of his power to Sirina. Her voice, which was beautiful to begin with, now infused with the essence of the Abyss is echoed with the might and wisdom of the ancient ocean. She is now linked to every creature and every current, every secret hidden within the deep, and it is in her song that she would be healing, protecting, and commanding the powers of the sea.
Back she came to the surface, her heart heavy with the task but full of new purpose. She started singing the Song of the Abyss among the merfolk and the sea creatures, extending the message all over. Her voice traveled through the waves to shores of land-living humans. Its haunting beauty stirred a sense of inexplicable association with the sea within those who listened to her song and engendered a sense of respect for its mysteries.
The merfolk were all united to protect the ocean under Sirina's guidance, restoring damaged reefs and purifying polluted waters, with care being taken not to disrupt the delicate balance of the marine world. Her song became the symbol of hope and renewal, telling of the ocean that was alive and full of secrets, and how those secrets deserved much love and protection.
She had a lot to fight through, though: from pirates using the seas to plunder for themselves to storms that would calumny her work. Each time, however, she drew on the strength of the Abyss and the old god Nereus's guile, using her voice to soothe the tides and imbue those who followed her with hope.
In time, Sirina’s song was known across the world, both above and below the waves. The ocean thrived, its mysteries respected and its beauty preserved. And though the Song of the Abyss remained a haunting melody, filled with the depth of the ocean’s sorrow, it was also a song of hope—a call to all who heard it to remember that the sea, in all its vastness and wonder, was a treasure that must be protected.
Then came Sirina-the Voice of the Ocean-and her legend became one of the favorite stories among the merfolk and creatures of the deep. Her story was a reminder of light and hope in darkest depths and always a voice for the secrets of the ocean within those who loved it enough to listen.
And thus, the Song of the Abyss continued through the ages as a timeless melody that bound in one the hearts of all who heard it to the deep, mysterious, and eternally beautiful ocean.
