In 2013, Curious Mafer heard about Bitcoin for the first time, thanks to some classmates talking about a game where you could earn "virtual coins" that weren’t worth anything back then. Interesting, but not very practical at the time. So, she decided to play Clash of Clans and move on with her life.

Everything changed in 2020. The pandemic took her away from her routine life, which was spent between cocktail classes, being behind bars and web development, leaving her at home with savings in the red and looking for how to generate extra income. That's when Bitcoin came back on her radar, this time accompanied by trading and play-to-earn games. Although she had painful memories of previous attempts at trading, she decided to give it another try.

Pandemic, Trading, and Second Chances

Time went by, and the Mafers became increasingly involved in the Web3 ecosystem. Play-to-earn games multiplied, and Mafer kept convincing herself she understood trading, claiming she had mastered the concepts, strategies, and emotional control. She also returned to Twitter after four years of inactivity since it was the social network where things were happening and people were actively engaging.

Art came into her life unexpectedly. In her quest to learn more, she stumbled upon an educational platform with a subscription fee that was out of reach at the time. But there was a chance to win a scholarship through an NFT project. Although she didn’t win, she stayed with the project, which ultimately changed her life.

The power of connection is remarkable. While actively engaging in the Web3 ecosystem, a crypto friend invited her to help build a community for the NFT project. Shy and introverted, Mafer decided to dive in without overthinking. On the first day of hosting activities, nerves took over, but she pressed on, took a deep breath, and continued. Everything was intuitive; her crypto friend introduced her to another teammate, forming a trio that became a fantastic team.

Time passed, and the trio faced a pivotal decision: stick with their current work or start their own project from scratch. Doubts crept in impostor syndrome kicked hard. Would people support three strangers? Were the community members only there because of the third-party NFT project?Despite all the uncertainties, they trusted their connection and said, “Yes! Let’s do it, fears and all!”

Building Dosis Web3 From Scratch

Two years later, creating Dosis Web3 turned out to be their best decision. Along the way, their crypto friend decided to step away, leaving the two remaining partners to manage the project. They reflected deeply: Was this truly what they wanted? Did building an educational community bring them closer to their dreams and goals? The answer was a resounding, “Yes! Let’s keep going!”

The journey has been a rollercoaster: full of ups and downs, disagreements, and moments where everything seemed to be on shaky ground. Two years may sound simple, but they are far from it. Building something like Dosis Web3 requires determination, focus, and the will to make it work, even if it means recalculating and taking alternative routes just like when Maps suggests a new path. What matters most is staying aligned with the objectives, seizing opportunities, and learning to say no when necessary. The key lies in maintaining clear agreements, open communication, and prioritizing balance so that any partnership, whether in Web3 or life, can thrive.

From Ambassador to Leader and New Challenges

One regular afternoon of planning, content creation, and meetings, Mafer stumbled upon a Twitter Space looking for ambassadors for a decentralized communications protocol. One thought dominated her mind: “Hmm, should I apply? I’ve got nothing to lose by filling out the form.”

As Rubén Blades would say, “La vida te da sorpresas, sorpresas te da la vida ¡Ay Dios! (Life gives you surprises, surprises give you life, oh Lord!)” Days later, she received a direct message. Skeptical it might be a scam, she verified all the details. To her astonishment, she had been accepted onto the team! 😱

Over the next 20 months, her time as an ambassador was an incredible experience. She grew both personally and professionally, collaborating with people from various nationalities, enhancing her skills, and acquiring new ones. She forged resilience, made critical decisions, and went from contributing small tasks within her comfort zone to leading the entire ambassador team for five months a milestone deserving of its own plaque in Maferlandia.

New Horizons and New Challenges

As time passed, Maferlandia began to feel a bit monotonous. Mafer, ever curious, sought new horizons, fresh challenges, and new learning paths. In a twist of fate, she joined forces with two amazing individuals to enroll in a writer’s cohort, aiming to take their skills to the next level. Spoiler alert: They exceeded their own expectations, forming a group that consistently writes articles and creates content.

As a true Curious Mafer, she couldn’t resist joining a hackathon. Her first experience was unique and a little unconventional. The results? Her team won first place in their category, leaving them with valuable lessons and stories for future competitions.

Exhaustion, Laughter, and a Clear Purpose

Do you notice how no one ever gets bored in the Web3 ecosystem? Sure, there’s exhaustion 😂. Just kidding… (or maybe not). It’s all about perspective.

Over the years, Mafer’s journey in Web3 has been a mix of immense joy, growth, and opportunities, along with stress, doubts, and fears. Yet, whenever she’s in a space that fuels her passion, everything shifts.
