It is said that human memory is truly short but that doesn’t limit us to forget everything. Some memories can be long lasting and cherished forever in one’s heart and mind. I vividly remember as if it were yesterday.
It was early in the morning before the crack of dawn, I woke up and looked through the window. The weather was chilly and calm, the birds were singing their melodious songs, the grass was shinning like broken pieces of mirror exposed to direct sunlight and the sky was blue in color. I hurriedly went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and then took a cool shower that left me shaking like a leaf on a branch. I wore my casual clothes and went downstairs to have my tantalizing breakfast made by my mum.
I left home quickly, as my friends were already waiting for me. We were all excited as we had planned to be out all day enjoying ourselves. We boarded a bus that took us to the mall. As soon as we arrived, the vibrant atmosphere buzzed with energy—shops lined up with their colourful displays, and the scent of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air. There were some activities to do. We started by playing games, competing as to who will win, We cheered each other on, and despite not winning anything remarkable, then we went to the cinema to watch a movie. It was an interesting movie and breathtaking one. Competing in games like air hockey and racing simulators had us cheering for each other, and of course, there were some hilarious moments of unexpected failures that made our sides hurt from laughing too hard, then followed by bowling which was fun experience. We also did some shopping, my friends and I tried on various outfits while critiquing each other’s choices, which led to some hilarious moments we then took lots of pictures as memories.
As the day winds down, we stroll through the mall one last time, stopping to admire holiday decorations or window displays. We couldn’t leave without picking up some sweet treats from the candy store, indulging in nostalgic childhood favorites that spark joy.
At this point we were tired and went to a restaurant to eat because we were all hungry as wolves. Deciding on a feast, we each choose something different to share. A giant pizza, sushi rolls, and a variety of bubble teas land on our table, making it look like a colorful buffet. We indulge in our meal, swapping bites and sharing stories, the table filled with our chatter. One friend shares an embarrassing incident from school, and we all burst into fits of laughter, causing a few heads to turn.
Our journey didn’t stop there—we ventured into a bookstore, a haven for those who loved to lose themselves in stories. Each of us gravitated towards different genres, sharing recommendations as we browsed the shelves lined with colorful book spines. I picked up a mystery novel that promised an intricate plot twist, while a friend grabbed a fantasy adventure that was the talk of our social circles. The atmosphere was serene yet charged with our excitement to discover new worlds among the pages.
As we near the end of our mall adventure, we decide to wind down at a cozy café. We settle in with sweet treats and a round of steaming hot chocolate, savoring the warmth after a long day. The conversations shift from the day’s experiences to plans for the future, dreams we hope to achieve, and silly things we still want to try together.
With bags in hand and hearts full of joy, we headed out, talking about our next trip. We vowed to make this a regular thing, a ritual of friendship that reminded us of the importance of connection, laughter, and fun amidst the chaos of life.
The sun begins to set, casting a warm glow through the mall’s large glass windows, signaling that it’s time to head home. The day may have come to an end, but the memories we created—laughter shared, stories told, and a stronger bond forged—will stay with us.
That day, filled with laughter, games, and heartfelt conversations, become etched in my memory. It served as a beautiful reminder of the significance of friends and the little moments. In a world that often rushes by, it is days like these that help us pause and appreciate the beauty of now.
This is why I still recount these memories till today. As the saying goes by “The best therapy in the world is time out with your friends.” It was indeed the best day in my life.
