This post is taking part in the Nouns x Kiwi writing contest

The first time I heard the word nounish, I thought it was some kind of new slogan or fad among boys and girls, or it represented some kind of revolutionary movement. The strangest thing of all was that its members called themselves, saying: "I am nounish.". I came to know this movement when I enrolled in the community t/amigos, a community of writers in Spanish.

To be nounish is to unleash your creative, cultural, artistic, social, ecological and altruistic side in search of a better world. I know it sounds like a Star Trek Federation crew culture. And maybe we are not far from the truth. “Nounish” could be said to be a combination of state of mind, cultural signal and a unique way of looking at the world. All thanks to the Nouns DAO ecosystem, a decentralized, autonomous organization focused on creating and promoting NFTs called Nouns.

Nouns

Nouns are “a free-to-use brand that generates positive impact by funding ideas and fostering collaboration. From collectors and technologists to brands and non-profits.”

The very concept of being “Nounish” constantly evolves to represent a set of philosophies and unwritten rules that influence how members and participants view the community and the world.

Key Philosophies for Being Nounish

Everyone can be Nounish: The “Nounish” culture promotes the idea that anyone can participate, contribute and be part of the community. Decentralization and democratization are key. No matter who you are or where you come from, if you align with the values of the project and have a screw loose, you are welcome.

Creativity is most important: Nouns DAO emphasizes collaboration and experimentation. Community initiatives do not follow specific rules but are based on innovation and creative freedom. Nouns culture encourages art, free design, and creativity, in all its artistic aspects you can imagine (paintings, sculptures, writings, films, imagination is the limit). Best of all, it is a shared good that can be expanded through collaboration.

Generosity and altruism: Being “Nounish” implies a philanthropic mentality (let's not forget eccentric). The funds generated by the creation and minting of NFTs or Nouns are used by the community to fund initiatives that promote the common good, both inside and outside the digital ecosystem. Through Nouns DAO, all members can vote for projects that benefit society as a whole; from funding inflatable and colorful pants to awesome parade floats.

Humor and simplicity: The seriousness of the corporations is left aside, the “Nounish” identity adopts a playful, even childish attitude. The Nouns' minted characters have a simple appearance, but we should not underestimate them for seeming babyish, but rather see them as the community's ability to take things with humor based on simplicity. There is enough pain and sadness in the world, the Nouns community comes to bring a rainbow of colors and joy to the planet, we can see that play and fun are essential parts of the experience of being Nounish.

Community participation and decentralized governance: Decision-making in the Nouns DAO ecosystem is collective. Every NFT Noun holder has a vote in DAO proposals and decisions, reinforcing the philosophy that the community has the power to determine the future and course of the project. Many say that whoever has the majority of voting power can control DAO decisions, however, Nouns eccentric philosophy has over all these years kept the company joyful and colorful.

Let's talk about the unwritten rules of being Nounish ⌐◨-◨

To be different is paramount. To be Nounish is to be inclusive. No one should be excluded for not following trends or rules, they don't really exist, they are constantly recreated and that's the beauty of this project. The most important and most valued thing is diversity, both of members or people and ideas, no matter how crazy or eccentric they may seem. The authenticity of the people who join the project is valued.

Encourage innovation: Being nounish is not just about sticking with what works, but having the courage to push the boundaries and explore new ways of doing things. Innovate, explore, expand. Again, I sound like Star Trek. We're probably going that way (it would be the coolest thing in the world).

Contribute to the greater good: Undoubtedly being nounish is about having a positive impact on the world for the betterment of the world and making it a better place, not just digitally, but for the real world in general.

Taking the time to enjoy yourself: It's not just about business or technology, it's about creating an environment that is enjoyable and full of creativity. Humor, fun, and community are central.

Wrapping up

Being Nounish is an attitude that combines creativity, philanthropy, accessibility, and a fun approach to life, all while operating within a decentralized, self-sustaining community ecosystem on the web3. I can't end this article without saying: that I am Nounish, and I say it with pride.⌐◨-◨
