ACT ONE
The Status Quo: The story begins with an introduction to our main character, Kelechi and her world. She is juggling school, basketball, family life and her own personal conflicts. It is the start of second term and the prefect selections are coming up. Kelechi hopes to be selected as sports prefect to boost her college scholarship applications, as her grades are on the lower side of average. Her world is torn apart when Theodora goes missing.
Complication: To Kelechi’s shock and annoyance, Theodora reaches out and Kelechi discovers the kidnapping was a ruse to get back at her parents. Due to high rates of kidnappings and femicide, Kelechi’s case is steadily gaining media attention. Kelechi promises not to tell anyone where Theodora is but tries to reason with her friend to return home.
Crossing the Threshold: Kelechi and Theodora meet in person. Kelechi threatens to tell her parents where she is if she does not return with her. This leads to a fight between the two girls. Kelechi leaves in anger, resolved to tell her mother all she knows. The next day, Theodora’s dead body is found.
ACT TWO
New World: Kelechi tries to navigate the aftermath of Theodora’s death while trying to hide her own involvement in it.
Obstacles: She struggles with school and relationships, especially with friends and family. The media attention is heavy on the case with the police and private investigators snooping around. To make matters worse, she begins receiving threatening messages from a blackmailer.
Temptations: Kelechi tries to cover her tracks while trying to unmask her blackmailer. She is also at a risk of losing her coveted prefect position.
Dark moment: The sad truth about Theodora’s “kidnapping” come to light as well as Kelechi’s involvement in it.
ACT THREE
Final Conflict: Amidst the media attention, hidden secrets are exposed and Theodora’s killer is unmasked.
Return Home: Kelechi comes clean to her parents on her struggles and seeks professional help.
