Centroid Analysis, Super-Approval, and Impartial Funding
"What are specific things that L2s can do to make their relationship between each other and with L1 more collaborative, and maximize positive-sum games?"
To foster deeper collaboration among Layer 2 (L2) solutions and create a positive-sum environment, a strategic approach combining centroid-based proposal analysis, super-approval mechanisms, and Superpool funding is recommended.. This framework not only identifies and prioritizes impactful proposals but also ensures their effective implementation across all participating L2s.
Approved proposals offer an insight into the priorities of each L2. Being Pluralistic, each L2 has its own vision, mission and goals. However, when the priorities intersect, there is common ground represented here by ABCDE.
In order to determine the common ground, we begin with centroid-based proposal analysis. Proposals from each participating L2 are aggregated to compute a common centroid, representing the average vector of these proposals and reflecting shared priorities. Each proposal is then compared to this common centroid.
Proposals that align closely with the centroid are considered highly relevant and are flagged for further evaluation. This method ensures that only proposals with significant overlap are prioritized.
Next, the Super-Approval mechanism streamlines the focus on these high-impact proposals. A pre-agreed percentage threshold is set, determining the alignment level a proposal must meet to be classified as "super-approved." Proposals meeting or exceeding this threshold are selected for funding. This approach ensures that only those proposals with substantial alignment to the collective goals of the L2s are chosen.
To fund these super-approved proposals, the Superpool mechanism is utilized. Each participating L2 contributes resources to a central Superpool, which is then used to support the development and deployment of the selected proposals. This pooled funding approach allows for efficient resource utilization and ensures that the proposals are implemented across all participating L2s. The coordinated implementation involves joint efforts and shared infrastructure, fostering integration and maximizing the impact of the proposals.
A key element of this process is the application of a veil of ignorance, which ensures impartiality. Each L2 does not know whether its own approved proposals will be selected for super-approval. This impartial approach guarantees that the evaluation and funding decisions are made based solely on the quality and relevance of the proposals, rather than any biases.
In summary, the combination of centroid-based proposal analysis, super-approval, and Superpool funding offers a comprehensive strategy for improving collaboration among Layer 2 solutions. By identifying and prioritizing impactful proposals and ensuring their effective implementation, this approach facilitates meaningful cooperation and delivers substantial benefits to the blockchain ecosystem. This integrated strategy enables L2 solutions to work together more effectively, advancing progress and innovation in a collaborative and resource-efficient manner.
