My Path to Better Integration with Ethereum

When I dove into the world of Ethereum, I didn’t do it to chase an ape on OpenSea or with the idea of getting rich overnight. On the contrary, my journey began with a genuine curiosity to understand what made this technology so special and how it could fit into my everyday life. Today, I want to share my experience on the best way to integrate into Ethereum from my personal perspective.

Start with a Name (ENS)

For any curious user who wants to take their first steps into the world of Ethereum, my recommendation is simple: get yourself a name. No, I don’t mean just any alias, but an ENS (Ethereum Name Service) domain. It’s your digital identity in the Web3 universe. With it, you can replace those long and complicated wallet addresses with a simple and easy-to-remember name like "your-name.eth". This not only makes transactions easier but also gives you a sense of belonging and presence on the blockchain.

For me, acquiring an ENS was like getting a small piece of Ethereum's vast universe, a portion I could call my own. And from there, the possibilities multiplied.

The Power of Decentralized Social Networks and Encrypted Messaging

After obtaining an ENS, the next step in your Ethereum integration could be to explore decentralized social networks. Platforms like Lens Protocol are changing how we interact online, offering an environment where your identity, data, and content are truly yours-not owned by big corporations. On these kinds of networks, your profile is portable, meaning you can move freely between applications without losing your community or content. This marks a fundamental shift from traditional social networks, where users are largely products of the platforms.

However, it’s not just data ownership that matters in this new decentralized environment, encrypted messaging also plays a crucial role. The recent detention of Pavel Durov, founder of Telegram, highlights the importance of privacy and security in digital communications. Durov has been a fervent advocate for freedom of expression and the protection of user data, and his situation underscores the need for secure and decentralized environments, where censorship and external intervention are impossible.

Ethereum Today vs. Two Years Ago

Compared to two years ago, the Ethereum space has evolved significantly. The entry point for new users is now much simpler and comes with fewer risks. A couple of years ago, one of the biggest challenges for newcomers was the high gas fees, which could discourage anyone. Today, those fees have decreased considerably, making experimentation easier without requiring large investments.

Additionally, the platforms and applications within the Ethereum ecosystem have improved their usability, making the experience more intuitive for new users. From more secure wallets to more user-friendly interfaces, everything is designed to ease the integration of beginners.

A Safe and Evolving Ecosystem

At the start, the barriers to entry were restrictive, which, while limiting mass adoption in the early years, also helped keep bad actors at bay. Over time, these restrictions have diminished, and verification and security in the ecosystem have strengthened, allowing those genuinely interested in learning and contributing to do so in a safer and more reliable environment.

This reminds us that everything has its time. The evolution of Ethereum, with its highs and lows, has been a continuous learning process. And though the path is not fully built, those who decide to venture now will find a much more mature and welcoming ecosystem than before. The key is to move forward step by step, with the conviction that the path is made by walking, and in Ethereum, that path still has much to be built.

Roses and Thorns A Personal Reflection

The journey in Ethereum, like any journey, has its challenges. I describe it as a path full of roses, of course, with all its thorns. There have been moments of uncertainty and confusion, especially at the beginning when everything seemed a bit overwhelming. However, each thorn I encountered was an opportunity to learn and grow. And each rose, a reminder of the rewards that this world has to offer.

For me, this journey has been more rewarding than painful. The lessons learned, the people I've met, and the opportunities that have arisen have far outweighed any difficulty. Today, I can confidently say that Ethereum is a much more welcoming and accessible space for new users than when I started.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey and to those who will join in the future. The future of Ethereum and decentralized technologies is still full of opportunities and discoveries to be made. Welcome to the adventure!
