Over the last two years, I have found myself talking QUICKER & QUICKER...FASTER & FASTER when I run into old friends & acquaintances around town. A nightlife background being the majority of my social interactions in my adulthood (a former career bartender & DJ), I feel that most that run into me might find me nervous that I might be asked the DREADED question of "What Have You Been Up To?"...and my response might be something I might timidly see as "embarrassing".
While I have certainly lived a life full of risks and experiences (more so filling the role of every tale's FUN UNCLE JOEY...always wise yet forever unstable), the pivot & trajectory that my life has taken to build a truly rewarding life of STABILITY will be my greatest challenge yet: A BLOCKCHAIN ADVOCATE.
No, I don't know code (PYTHON, REACT, ETC). No, I'm not ridiculously wealthy (I just debated which is more economical: a bag of chips to accompany the cold cut sandwiches I am about to eat or saving myself the FEES from NOT closing out one of my LIQUIDITY POOLS in order to fund said chips.) No, this isn't a CON nor am I NAIVE (I sit down with myself almost DAILY and look at not JUST the TECHNOLOGY, the FINANCES, or the APPLICABILITY of what WEB3 has to offer). I am someone that has staked his livelihood on PEOPLE.
It's an aspect to WEB3 in general and the blockchain in particular that we tend to omit in our whitepapers, airdrops, & community forums. No, I'm not talking about serving certain groups of individuals on this planet with this tech, nor trying to problem solve or upgrade certain institutions in our civilization thru concensus or function. I'm talking about the TRUE INTEGRATION, the ADOPTION, the daily and "individual" ONBOARDING that must take place with each individual these innovations seek to serve.
Those of us on THIS side of things can make tools, but they will continue to be just that. Being able to pull all these different threads (NETWORKS) together will be the true test of what bridges all of this from mechanism...to culture.
For myself, it's a LONG & HARD road to propose this UNIQUE of a USE CASE in my industry. I'm still hesitant to use the C-word (Cryptocurrency) or the B-Word (Blockchain) fearing an EYE-ROLL and instead throw off and just generalize it by saying WEB3 when talking to the average person on the street. Yet, like the civilizations that existed before our own on this planet, we as a people, are struggling thru a new enlightenment...and it may take us years perhaps even decades to reach it. But we WILL reach it...and I must help.
