Today I want to tell you about a very unusual plant, a succulent - Crassula Buddha Temple

This Crassula received its name “Temple of Buddha” due to the original appearance of the pagoda.

Crassula Buddha's Temple

Crassula Buddha Temple is a hybrid between Crassula pyramidalis and Crassula falcata. It was obtained by Myron Kimnach in 1959.

Krassula Buddha Temple - Buddhas Temple

This Crassula grows in the form of a column up to 15 centimeters in height.

The leaves are flat, green in color, covered with small hairs, which makes them look as if they are covered with a silvery coating.

This species has been living with me for about a year and a half. And from a small, almost 3 by 4 cm ball, a column 9 centimeters high grew.

Care.

For the good and harmonious growth of this succulent, it is necessary to provide it with 3 of the most important components:

Good light. I use additional lighting with a phytolamp, since there are very few sunny days in my region of residence, especially in the autumn-winter period;

Well-drained soil with a high proportion of mineral components. To do this, it is necessary to add perlite, diatomite, zeolite, volcanic lava, pumice stone, etc. to the usual purchased soil. You can use a special soil for succulents, such as the Lechusa Pon substrate;

Watering on demand. I don't water the Crassula until its leaves lose their turgor. Otherwise, there is a chance to flood the plant and it will simply rot.

Reproduction.

In the summer of 2023, my Buddha Temple decided to multiply itself and began to give "babies".

They grow on the main trunk, squeezing between dense leaves. Of course, this also affected the appearance of the "mother", because of the children, the trunk began to tilt a little in one direction or the other. I even had to stick in a toothpick prop.

If desired, the "baby" can be separated, rooted and grown separately as an independent plant.

Also, this Crassula is perfectly propagated by cuttings, by pruning and rooting the top.

The difficulties of cultivation.

In principle, there are no special difficulties in caring for this fat woman. The main thing is to comply with all 3 basic requirements - a lot of light, sufficiently loose soil, not frequent watering on demand.

Without these three components, this plant will stretch, shrink its leaves and lose its interesting and attractive appearance, for which it is so loved by succulents.
